The Art of Jacqueline Gallagher
‘Of Melancholy and Monkey Business’, a solo exhibition of new works by emerging artist Jacqueline Gallagher opens on May 7th at SF’s Articulated Gallery. The works center on unsettling portraits of grotesque yet oddly alluring figures, whether as Fiji mermaids in states of suspension and exhibition or as a manic eyed woman captured in a ravaging moment. The strange, magnetic lighting creates a nighttime effect, as the figures are shrouded in darkness curiously illuminated by the glow of blooming flowers or ominous creatures that snake around their captives.
